  1. I agree that you need to involve your parents first and foremost.

Take into consideration that an acting cover letter has the purpose of presenting you to an agent or casting director for example, letting them know why you wrote them (in other words what it is you want) and letting them know you are available and interested in meeting with them to present yourself in person or audition.

You must realize that agents and casting directors get lots of cover letters, resumes and head shots from a lot of unprofessional aspiring actors. Many of those packages get trashed. Make sure that doesn't happen to you.

Make it short, sweet and to the point. Be professional. No spelling errors and say something original and not, "This is my dream. I've always wanted to be an actress. I think I can do it." like so many others.

Have a look at this page on my site for new and aspiring actors. On it you will find 23 links to different pages that have to do with starting an acting career including a page about cover letters and how to write them, steps on how to get your career started, why it really is that you need an agent and steps you can take to get one.

Lastly, don't forget to make sure that before you go looking for an agent, that you are actually ready for one. That means if you want to set yourself apart from the rest, you will need a minimum of training and experience, otherwise you will be relying on your looks and on the luck of the draw like thousands of others.

    Good luck!

  2. First of all they have to be from your parent.  Second they should be short and to the point and be a formal business letter addressed to someone at the agency, or at the very least to the agency, never to whom it may concern.
