  1. Hmm face classes, what an interesting concept.

Certainly YOU, me, everyone has history, experiences they can draw on, immediate situations that cause reactions or responses, most often manifest in facial expressions or body language, also often accompanied by various words or phrases.

As an Actor, the task need not be exaggerated, but certainly recalled and used, given a scene or situation in any part of any film. I suspect NATURAL might best describe the job of an actor, in portraying life, through a character not them.

Tips: Hmmm?  Have you a good sense of your own sensibilities? Could you laugh, cry, show fear, anger, etc. on cue? Or at least rehearse those emotions, so often seen on screen?

  2. Making faces and acting are two completely different things. One (making faces) is indicating. It's like when someone tells you to try and look pensive and you put your hand on your chin and look down. That's indicating. It's trying to look like you are doing something you are really not doing and whoever is watching can see that it doesn't look real.

The other (acting) is being. It is the capacity of a person to really BE the person he/she is interpreting and really FEEL what the character is feeling. The actions and the faces come then naturally without you thinking about it.

It takes a lot of time, training and practice and experience to perfect it. That's why if you really want to be good at this, you need to go to a professional teacher or coach who can help you. Yahoo.answers is good for a lot of things, but it is not an acting teacher.

Have a look a this page on my site for new and aspiring actors. On it you will find different links to pages that have to do with various aspects of starting an acting career including 23 benefits of taking acting classes and how to to choose the right acting school for you. In the Hollywood section of the site, you will find an interview with an acting coach who talks about how to know if the school and the classes you have chosen are right for you. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/teen_...

    Good luck!
