Question:

Acting in school?

I was just wondering if high school would be a good try for becoming an actor. I have been auditioning for Indie films, and people tell me I'm good. Any suggestions on what I should do? Do agents take a look at high school?

  1. Acting in school is very good for experience and skills! And if you are really committed then you will try to act as much as possible!

At my school's last school play, there was a talent scout there, and my friend's sister (who played lead) got an agent through being spotted through the school play! So yes - agents do look at schools!

  2. Yes, high school is good for lots of things...acting, getting a real job when the acting thing may or may not work out...life. Take it from a former starstruck kid who tried it, get your HS diploma and do every show you can. Do other shows if you can, like community theater and college shows, and keep track of all the roles you play on your theater resume. Another good thing about high school is that some of your "drama geek" friends (and I was a proud one too!) might just end up as fellow actors/directors/producers/ and the contacts will help you later on. One of my good friends has been a Broadway electrician for years...we just reconnected after over 20 years and he might be able to help my son with his singing career. Find a good agent (if you live near a big city you can find one easier, but start small) and perform like crazy. Break a leg!
