  1. Very hard to answer without making this way too long. I'll make it as simple as possible.

    * portfolio is like recent pictures of you to share.

    * a monologue is a script from a play used at an audition.

    * auditioning is showing off your talents in singing, acting and dancing in order to make the best possible role in a show you're interested in.

    * A musical is a play with a melodic score to accompany the scenes and acts.

  2. You're asking an incredibly broad question. Acting is a job, and has many facets with which to familiarize yourself with. Asking for all available info is like asking a lawyer to explain everything there is about being a lawyer; it can't be done entirely in a single response on Yahoo Answers.

That said, I'll address the specific stuff you mention in your question. A portfolio is something more for a model than an actor, something that shows the model in various shots to show their range. Some actors have one as well, they're usually more along the lines of a scrapbook, and not used professionally.

A monologue is a section in a play where a single actor speaks for an extended period without a second person speaking. They may be speaking to another character, or onstage alone to nobody in particular. Usually at an audition for a straight play actors are asked to prepare a monologue or two from other plays to do at the audition.

If you want to know about auditions, there's just too much about it to answer succinctly without rambling for hours. What exactly is it you're curious about?

  3. A portfolio is a collection of pictures of you. A monologue is a smallish recital that you use for auditioning, usually you use it to show someone is up with on the stage even though someone isn't. I am not very sure a ETC. At an audition you go up in front of a few people and act as best you can. And a musical you act and sing as best you can.

  4. A portfolio is a few recent pictures of you. A monologue is a script that you memorize for an audition. Well ALL auditions are different some are at a house with a judge or two and some are in a building with a waiting room with a camera filming your audition. But for every yes there are 1000 no's. So be confident and smile.
