Acting tips for auditioning with a piece of Juliet?

Im auditioning for the school play tomorrow, and just wondering if there are any tips you could give me, im auditioning with a piece of romeo and juliet, Juliets speech in the begininng of scene 2.

So.. ANYTHING would be helpful!!

  1. Don't overact. Don't put on a foreign or affected accent because you think it sounds "Shakespearey." Don't pause at the end of every line--follow the punctuation, not the line breaks, so it sounds more like natural speech. Think about how you would feel if you were in Juliet's situation, and let that feeling come out through your acting. Juliet is actually a great role for a younger person because the character is only 13, although it does take a certain level of maturity to make her into a complex and interesting figure.
