My friend swears he has a 65g tank with only actinic lights. He says he keeps them on 24/7 and has been for 2 years. He has polyps and fish in his tank. I have never heard of this working but I am interested since I have a 50/50 light on my tank. It doesn't sound like it would work and sounds like he is making it up but he isn't the type of person who would lie about stuff like this. Anyone else only have actinic lights on their tank with coral ?

  1. I've never heard of such a thing, but I wouldn't say it's impossible...I guess it would depend on what corals he has in there and how far they are from the lights.

  2. actinic lights are on a certain part of the light spectrum, so if all his corals get their light from that spectrum, its very possible that it works, but i don't see the point in looking at a dark tank all day lol, seems rather pointless, i like seeing what's going on in my tank lol
