Action pictures, What camera is a good choice?

I want to buy a digital camera to take fast action photos with. I cant afford a SLR so what is my next best option

  1. Actually, if you're shooting in good light, I've done lots of tennis photos with the Canon A600 series. You can play with the shutter speed, and shutter lag is pretty much nonexistant. Just remember to prefocus on your subject so you're prepared to hit the shutter button.


  2. All "point & shoot" digicams suffer from what's called shutter lag - the time between when you press the shutter release and when the camera actually takes the picture. This makes it nearly impossible to take action pictures.

    The only real choice is a DSLR. Fortunately, Sony, Pentax, Canon and Nikon all offer excellent choices between $500 to $700. Save some more and buy the camera that will do what you want. Otherwise, you'll simply waste your money and be frustrated - and you'll still end up buying a DSLR.
