Action to unfold at the Night Race at Bristol
The nasty cars of NASCAR Sprint Cup are ready to move on for the next race of the season. The drivers are excited and thrilled, as they enter one of the most electrifying venues of the season, the Bristol Motor Speedway. The race is to be held at Bristol’s half-mile coliseum for the IRWIN Tools Night Race, a place that had never failed to magnetise race fans and elate the racers immensely.
One of the most anticipated races of the year is scheduled to take place this Saturday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m.
At the moment when the analysts and race-lovers are looking forward for a h**l of fun and excitement, the weather predictors are announcing isolated thunderstorms that may go as high as 86 feet along with a wind out of the SW at 6 mph. Well, that calls for massive roaring and thundering on the track on the challenging day.
The famous Bristol Motor Speedway is a half-mile oval track, which has high-banking all around its way. The corners of the track are banked 36 degrees while the straight- always has 16-degree banking on them.
It is a tricky and tough track and only a very few drivers have been able to dominate it. Kyle Busch, Kurt Busch, and Jeff Gordon are among the small list of drivers that were able to have a decent success here.
The track is not just another simple track rather it has a lot more to it. One thing that is most important about this track is, ‘do not come here with your best car.’
The Bullring of Bristol has always been described as ‘a flying airplane in a gymnasium.’ No surprise why it is called so; there has been not a single race here that did not echo crashes and collisions of the cars. All the races have had jingles of metal sheet scratching and scraping with each other, thus damaging the structure and look of autos.
However, for fans The Night Race is one of the most entertaining events, when the cars glare and sparkle under the flood of lights as the track gives a scene of an illuminated milky way at nights. However, for the drivers it is nothing less than a frustration as they endanger their cars and themselves. The cars have always seen extensive bumps and bangs, as the driver tempers flare.
Over the years, the analysts have come to a conclusion that the car with best set of pit stops is most likely to win here. However, some critics believe that the one who has luck at his side would be able to do good on this brutal track, where the entire race could turn upside down with just a single nudge to the bumper.
As the race begins, fifty cars attempt to qualify for a total of forty-three spots. The Friday’s qualifying determines the starting positions of the cars going from 1-43. However, the cars which fall in the top thirty-five positions in the owner's points’ tally are guaranteed a spot for the race day.
The race of this weekend is being waited for with great anticipation, as the race fans are eager to see a lot of action and drama unfold at the track amidst the lights and sounds.
Fans have always roared and cheered at this track like nowhere else and a similar electrifying atmosphere is expected once again.
Moreover, media people, reporters and analysts are already fleeing towards the place from all around America.
Two more days to go and we will witness the battle of the howling cars and drivers.
