  1. buy a pair, there is enough flexibility in them that your ankles will not get weaker, just prevented from going over.

I played competitive vb for 10 yrs and suffered sprained, strained, dislocated and broken (part of dislocation) ankles.   Each of the dislocations keep me off the court for 3-6 months and cost me vertical. Once I got the active ankles, I landed on someones foot and thought here we go again, another year shot.  Well lo and behold, while it hurt, there was no damage and I continued to play in the same game.  Oh so much better than going home in a cast and being on crutchs for 3 months.  They allowed me to play vb for another 10 yrs as well baseball, tennis, badminton, etc.

  2. i have worn active ankles for 3 years now. I first started wearing them because of ankle problems too. i would recommend them, they keep your ankles very secure. one thing to know though - make sure you always wear them during intense activity. Your ankles will grow weaker and not used to supporting themselves, but as long as you wear them everything is great! let your mom know that they will prevent injury.
