Question:

Active Games for Kids on a Rainy Day?

I'm going babysitting in a few hours, and it's pouring rain. But the kids' mom says that they've been cooped up in the house all day and have tons of energy.

What are some fun, active games that can be played in a small apartment? The kids are six and seven.

Thanks.

  1. I say dress for the wheather.  and take the kids outside to play in the rain. just because it rains doesn't mean you have to stay in. bring an extra set of clothes...go outside get wet and dirty, play and have fun. come in and get cleaned up...have dinner blah blah blah your night of babysiting will go by in a flash. and you had fun ontop of it.

  2. I would get their duvets down & let them make camps with them, pillows & blankets.

You can also play sharks where you put bits of paper on the floor & pretend that there is water all around & try & make your way around the apartment moving the paper futher away each time.

Another game is when you are not allowed to walk or stand & can only crawl around on your hands & knees or your belly.

  3. Board games will be fun, puzzles, coloring, any arts & crafts..

Make them draw any thing that they want( family, park, beach etc.)

Also you can watch movies together maybe along with some snacks..

Read them a story, tell jokes or tell fun stories..

I have try some with my kids and it have worked on rainy days.

    Have fun !! :)

  4. My favorite game with that age is "keep it up". Bring a balloon over, blow it up, move furniture, and keep it up in the air. Keep count, have goals. Have silly rules for different rounds, like "use your finger" "use your elbow" "use your head". Sort of like Simon says. That's a good game too! Have a dance party. Play restaurant. You be the customer they can be the waiter/waitress and chef, switch it around. Play "gym". You be the instructor, and actually give them a good workout. We all can work out more :P Making paper air planes and having contests seeing how far they go.

    Have fun. Good luck.
