Active Short Contingent mean?

What does status: Active Short Contingent on a home that is on sale?

I have seen this recently on the MLS too.

It was explained to me that the house is in escrow with someone, but the sale has contingencies that may not be met.....so they are accepting back up offers.

Active: It's available for sale

Short: Usually means "short sale" which is where the bank will take less than the amount owed on the sellers home.

It means the property is a short sale it already has had an offer accepted but the bank(lender) is willing to consider other offers.
