Active subwoofer to dvd/cd home cinema receiver with passive subwoofer input only?

Can I connect an Active S-woofer (Pioneer SW-90S) to my Dvd/Cd Home Cinema receiver system (Pioneer XV-DV313), which only includes input for passive subwoofer (there is not a Line Level input on the back of the receiver). The active sub-woofer is supplied with an RCA plug cord (Subwoofer preout). If so, do I need a new cable or can I adapt the RCA plug cord. Thanks in advance.

  1. You probably have a single connector for your sub-out on the back of your surround system. Connect it to the left channel (white) of your sub and forget about the red.

If you don't have a sub-out on your surround system, it's going to be difficult to use with that subwoofer.

  2. You don't connect a sub-woofer to an INput.  You connect a sub-woofer to an OUTput.

On the back of the amp, you should have a 'sub-woofer out' plug.  That's what the sub plugs into.
