Even though Joe Calzaghe is the true light heavyweight champion of the world, I have to admit that I think that Chad Dawson is the BEST light heavyweight in the world.  I think that he would beat Calzaghe if they fought, but Joe is going to fight a much easier and rewarding fight with Roy Jones, Jr. so Chad probably won't get a chance to prove it because he's just too dangerous of an opponent.  However, it is very likely that Chad will face Antonio Tarver in the fall, and I think that if he beats Tarver convincingly (which he probably will) then, that will do a great deal of convincing more people that he is the best 175 pounder in the world (Calzaghe is still the champ though until he loses or retires).

I would have to go with Chad Dawson, right now. I respect Hopkins' title from Ring Magazine after his fights with Tarver and Wright, but I could really consider Hopkins a true light heavyweight, with those two fights alone. For one reason, Hopkins had only two fights at 175, with his first one being against Tarver who was Hopkins' only true light heavyweight opponent. Winky Wright was more a middleweight coming up into the division to fight Hopkins. This would be the same reason why I won't put Calzaghe over Dawson, yet. If I could see three more fights out of Calzaghe against true 175 pounders, then I may think differently.

I would say Calzaghe and Chad Dawson. Chris Byrd is also comebacking at 175, so you can throw Rapid Fire into the melting pot as well.

Chad Dawson who hopefully will fight Calzaghe and beat him,but I doubt wether Calzaghe will risk it a fight with Chad!

Chad Dawson but I was very surprised how Johnson fought him.  I never saw Dawson get hit solidly like that in any of his other fights.

I don't think any other light heavyweight would give Dawson trouble like Johnson did.
