Activision outlines what features Call of Duty: Elite users will get for free: E3 Update
Activision have finally broken their silence over the Call of Duty: Elite online service by outlining the features that all players will be able to avail, regardless of whether or not they opt for the paid subscription package.
While the announcement does not put to rest questions of what players will have to pay for, or in fact the more pressing question of how much the paid subscription will cost, it does give fans a fair bit to get excited about.
Activision has confirmed that CoD: Elite will be linked with players' Facebook profiles, allowing them to join groups in Elite based on their social network preferences, as well as the ability to keep track of which of the player’s Facebook friends play
Call of Duty.
Players can also create Clans, which points to the fact that online tournaments and clan matches are a real possibility.
Players can also find groups that they have common interests with and link up with them easily.
CoD: Elite will also come with the option for players to upload their videos from Theatre Mode.
Apart from that, it will be strongly linked to the game and will allow players to track their statistics in terms of weapons, movement, kills, deaths and a host of other information as well, including the Heat map feature.
Most impressively however, CoD: Elite can be accessed via the internet, mobile phones as well as consoles with free applications set to be made available for both iOS and Android supported phones when the service is launched.
Call of Duty: Elite is set to launch around the same time as Infinity Ward’s highly anticipated first person shooter, Modern Warfare 3 around November.
However, one can expect a few more announcements between now and then, with rumours of another announcement regarding CoD: Elite to be teased at Activision’s Press Conference.
For those who cannot wait that long, the Cod: Elite Beta is set to launch on the 14th of July and will allow, those who manage to sign up, access to a number of features.
