Activities begin to take place at Farmers Insurance Open
Beginning this week at Torrey Pines Golf Club, the golf event of Farmers Insurance Open is expected to commence its introductory activities from Monday onwards.
The event is expected to feature practice sessions between professionals as well as amateurs at the golf course.
However, the grand event will be falling short in terms of its excitement and grandeur, primarily, because of the absence of some major players from the event.
Reputed golfer and former champion Tiger Woods has already marginalised his name from the event, since the scheduled dates of Farmers Insurance Open clashed with the Abu Dhabi Open.
In addition to this, the top notch of golf will not be seen in the event as all of them are gathering to compete against each other at the other tournament.
Among the players expected to show up, defending champion Bubba Watson, people’s favourite Phil Mickelson and veteran golfer Vijay Singh will light up the other tournament.
It is also important to mention here that Mickelson earlier withdrew his name from the Accenture Open to attend a family function, that was scheduled in line with the dates of the event.
The second encounter between professional and amateurs will take place on Wednesday, on both, the North as well as the South courses.
According to pundits, it is the experience of golfers that is tested at Torrey Pines. Hence, the golfers with the most experience will definitely be able to showcase their golfing skills and potentials in a much better and effective way.
Experts have also termed Brandt Snedeker as a tough contender, especially after he was able to grab a position in the top 10 golfers at the PGA West.
This time he is anticipated to perform better with most legendary players absent from the golf course.
The Century Club, which is the chief organiser of the event, is a non-profit organisation through which promotional exercises and other corporate activities related to the event take place for the annual PGA Tour event.
The earnings generated from the Farmers Insurance Open event are solely utilised for charitable purposes and the fulfillment of humanitarian aims and objectives.
The Club came into inception in the year 1961. With the passage of time, it has been able to widen its customer base by getting hold of greater corporate sponsorships.
