Activities for 3-5 year old children?

my sister's class is going to a child's daycare tomorrow to interact with 3-5 year old children (child development class), and they have no idea what to do with the children. the teacher sed the kids know their shapes, and possibly the alphabet. they are 3-5 years old. everyone liked the idea of a father's day project, and they wanted a physical activity (maybe a scavenger hunt?). any ideas? remember, father's day craft to take home and physical game for 3-5 year olds. thanks so much! ;-]]

  1. Get light colored sheets of construction paper and bowls of different colored paints. First tell the children to dip there hands in the paint and put there hand prints on the paper, next do the same but on another page with the foot. If possible paste two different pictures of them, one between the feet and one between the hands.

If you don't like that idea you can hide cut outs of different shapes, have the kids look for and find the shapes the winners get a big piece of candy (medium size) whereas the losers get a smaller piece of candy.

If you still don't like my ideas then try these websites for more fun ideas:

  2. Paint a fish for dad - or a necktie

Play with the parachute with them or just let them play outside on their toys.

  3. I would just have them make a card for father's day. And a hunt I would have them go outside if it is nice and hunt for leaves, flowers, rocks outdoors things. Good luck.

  4. Well a project you can do for a fathers day project is buy some wooden shapes and put a picture of that child on the front of it. On the back of the shape the child could write a message to their dad saying how much they love him.

If they don't want to do the fathers day thing then they could make a cape using cloth or paper. You could buy some different material and some things to put on the capes. Try to get white material it's less expensive and the kids could design it themselves. Keep in mind they are young so they may need help or ideas on what they want to put on their cape.

The last thing is if you don't want to go to the store and buy something then all they have to do is play musical chairs, start off with one sentence and have another person say 1 more sentence then another ect, draw, see who could name the most shapes in 30 seconds {give them candy to choose from and all the other kids get smaller candy}. Do different games and give the kids little toys for winning, but remember if you give one kid a toy then everyone else will want one even though they didn't win, so give them something smaller or else the person who did win will fell like they won for nothing.

Some of the games you could play are duck duck goose, hind-n-go-seek or go to these websites for more ideas
