  1. 'Safe' ways of risk taking - climbing, crawling, balancing, hiding etc Set up little obstical courses where they can climb and go under and over things.

A dress up box - hats, shoes, bangles, shirts - all sorts of things that they can use to copy real life and try for themselves.

Dolls and dolls bottles and blankets for putting baby to bed etc All things they have experienced and can try being the caregiver.

Hope those ideas are helpful :)

  2. wow, there are so many, finger painting, marble painting, crayon art, sticker art, foam art, shaving cream play, reading books and making them interactive, music of course.....

  3. Painting: get parents to bring htem in old clothes so they can crawl, roll around etc wihtout worry of ruining clothes....have long wallpaper of paper on the floor and paint pots, brushes, sponges etc...children can explore the texture of the paint. you can even add scents to the paint to make it more stimulating.

Treasure Box: Box full of everyday goodies like wooden spoons, corks, pine cones etc etc-it encourges their hand eye coordination, sensory skills and communication. The children can explore the box playing freeling wihtout rules.

Trampoline-small one and children can feel different sensation when walking/crawling.

Paddling pool-if u have one! Monitor VERY closely though :) if you cant have paddling pool have a low level tray with water for splashing hands and toys in-can hcange by adding bubbles one day, or glitter

Stories: look at books -peep o style books....the colours and your tone of voice wil be more stimulating than the actual story!

Real Life play: pretend food, cooker, cups plates etc.

Freeplay: let the children choose what to play-have selection of toys and the child can pick themsewlves-often at this age they want really want a play mate :)

  4. Let's see.... You could do some drawing,painting,playing toys.That's all i got.

  5. For toddlers in general you would need to involve parents as much as possible, offer simple explanations and directions at a time, allow them choices, if possible, use distraction, give lots and lots of affection.

Also remember that toddler's world revolves around the parents, especially the mother and they will experience anxiety to separation.  Keep their rituals, objects, routines, pictures of the family and tape recordings of favorite stories transitional objects: blanket or a favorite toy from home promotes security.

Repetitive games that deal with disappearance and return are helpful with this age.  Example: Peekaboo and hide-and-seek.

Also remember that toddlers pick up anything from anywhere and put it into their mouth, it is important to keep their hands clean and to avoid leaving personal cosmetics or household cleaning at their reach.

I hope these tips help you deal better with these toddlers.

    Good Luck
