I am going to be looking after my 18 year old special needs cousin and would like some ideas what to do each day, she likes football & swimming so i can do that with her but what else?

Does anyone know what activities are available in the Glasgow area for special needs?

  1. Bowling, Shopping, Dancing, Painting.. Where I come from our local footy team has a disabled supporters club and they are always organising events and have a bus to go to the away games you should enquire about that because you will be able to mix with other carers who can tell you about other events and activities that are on in your area.

  2. Hi, my grandson was not in special needs category but needed something to interest him, use up his energy etc etc.  I managed to get him into kayaking. Many clubs lend the craft there are training days etc.  Granddaughter now into it.  They love it.

  3. how about searching for a riding school and taking her for a wee horseback lesson??  we used to have loads of special needs kids at my yard.  they can be taught in the ring or even go out on a wee walk, weather and things permitting.  and you will be able to either ride or walk alongside her to enjoy it with her.

  4. A lot of these children like hand on activities like weaving, cooking (make a pizza, great fun with the kneading). Try painting or sand art.

I wouldn't take her anywhere crowded as she may feel threatened by this.
