Question:

Activities in the adirondacks?

I've just booked us and my parents a campsite for four days by the north-south lake in the Adirondacks in NY.

Would be grateful for any pointers of things to do, places to see.. restaurants, points of interest or anything that's fun to do in the near area.

  1. Not sure exactly where north-south lake is, but if you have some time to drive around by car, I'd recommend a hike up Blue Mountain. Very accessible hike, with great views from the top of Blue Mountain Lake. Canoeing or kayaking on the Fulton Chain of Lakes (rent gear in Old Forge) is also fun. Further to the north is Lake Placid, which is a fun town. You can often find pro freestyle skiers doing aerials into water at the Olympic training facility. If you get up that far, check out Au Sable Chasm for great views and fun outdoor activities.  Run an internet search on Au Sable Chasm for more info. Also if you're up north and more into car sightseeing than hiking, the drive up Whiteface Mountain is quite nice, with amazing views from the top on a clear day.
