Activities to do with my 3 year old daughter??

I'm 29 1/2 weeks pregnant with a little boy. I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old daughter. She is a very active little girl, but I am so drained all the time that I feel like I'm not spending enough time with her. I feel terribly guilty. She ends up playing a lot on her own, and watches Disney & Nickelodeon cartoons. I've been so busy getting everything together for the new baby and making sure the house is ready & prepared that I haven't had a lot of time with my daughter. I want to spend the next 10 weeks before the baby is born, with my daughter and doing different activities. We are home all day, and it is so HOT outside, we live in Florida. Everytime I go outside I feel light headed and about ready to pass out. So what indoor activities can I do with her? I do read her stories, and play with her dolls. We also do flash cards occassionaly. What other activities are there we can do to spend quality time? Other than TV.

  1. ok...this suggestion depends on the size of your kitchen and how willing you are to clean up a mess.  I understand that you can't go outside, but why not bring an outdoor activity inside?  Get a kiddie pool, put it in your kitchen, fill it with water and pool toys, get bathing suits on, and "go swimming"  Your daughter will be tickled pink at the idea of swimming in the kitchen and it will be fun for you too.

  2. finger paint with her.. have her make something for the baby let her choose where to hang it in his room... (wont take much energy from you i understand) play dough is fun for them at that age.. I just sit there with them and do it as well so non gets past their hands into their mouths.  We have a Curious kids Museum here in our small town and mine loves it. we go about once every two months or so kids are free im only 2 dollars ... and they have a toddler area that everythings padded but they have tons of slides and all that stuff.

  3. well my three year old likes to play kitchen. We bought her toy kitchen at age 1 1/2 to this day she still plays with it! Hope i helped.

  4. if your not worried about messes then blow bubbles or if you have a mirror she can reach cover it in shaving creme and draw in it.

Finger paint( if you dont want to buy it use pudding, cheap)

Playdough(you could even make it home made recipes, at http://babyparenting.about.com/cs/activi...

coloring(print out your own pages if you want coloring pages at http://www.coloring.ws/coloring.html)

  5. do they have places like chuckie cheese? put an add on craigslist for play dates and take her to someones house or have them come over to yours.

    prepare her for school

do mother daughter cooking- bake cookies

    mother daughter clean day

    take her to the mall

    pool

take her to the zoo or a pet store so she can see doggies

u and ur husband and her can spend a weekend away at like a neaby place so its different to her

and thats all i can think of, maybe u should but her in ballet or gymnastics or something fun like that. get her used to more people so when she has a new baby brother she doesnt feel like she's left out and stuff

  6. not to sure how messy you mind getting...how bout finger painting or making and playing with play-dough...or bake something sweet that maybe you crave...??  In my experience my children love to do anything that means getting dirty...and after all the messy fun, have a princess bubble bath...maybe dye the bath water with a lil (only a lil don't want a blue kid...LOL) food coloring and then adding bubbles...or get some of those chem-lites (kids use around halloween) and light them and lay them in the bottom of the bubbles...then turn the lights off..it pretty neat!

    good luck on your pregnancy!!!

  7. I have a 3 year old and am 20 weeks along. So, I kinda have the same problem. This is what I've done.Get a sticker book. Coloring books. Buy construction paper and make things.Play hide and seek. My daughter LOVES to play that. Buy candyland or chutes and ladders to play with her.

  8. I also have a 3-year-old - a lot of the indoor activities we do (we live in south Texas... HOT) she loves Play-doh and most recently Legos. Obviously that is going to depend on the maturity of your kiddo, not all kids are good with the small Lego pieces. Mine has recently gotten into toddler games like Memory, Candy Land, and... I can't remember the name of it, but a fishing game. Make sock puppets. Have her help you make a cake or dinner (putting a salad together, mixing meat for meatballs, etc.) See if she can help you fold the new baby's clothes and put new things away for him. :)

Good luck, I'm newly pregnant with #2 and will be facing these problems later. Have fun!

  9. Read lots and lots of books. My 3 yr old likes to sing, dance, all sorts of stuff Google 3 yrs old activities
