I carried out an activity with groups of children where they had to add glitter to their firework paintings and sticking on little stars, what learning outcomes could they get from doing this?

  1. It allows them to create, they get praise for their artwork which builds self -esteem, they have fun deciding themselves how their art is done.It teaches them, skills.Art goes into so many different things in our lives. It's a healing activity for many!

If they are in groups, usually the teachers witness and should encourage and praise the children to share crayons, glue scissors with each other. Many share ideas ,with each other during the activity. And some start working together on their projects!

They learn to apprieciate art! They learn with simple items, how to spend a rainy day away from school. Many kids, can't wait to show siblings at home, other neighborhood kids  or parents how to do what they've learned.

They learn with art they can in turn share love (create a card for sick people),they have something to give even though they don't have money!

It's all in the way the teachers allow them to see,it's not just a right now activity.Show them, there's so much more to offer of themselves through learning art!

My nephew made a sugar clumped, macroni icon of his dad,for Father's Day! I sprayed it with glue, and took a picture of it. One day it will finally fall apart.but,it still brings me joy.(and yes,I admit it.I told my brother I was going to keep it) (smile)

    Take care!

  2. If they were real small eye-hand coordination, a future job skll, This is also something alot of special needs children need extra practice.

  3. being creative, responsible and working by themselves in a group :D

  4. 1) fine motor coordination

    2) vocabulary

    3) self-help with clean up

    4) independent work skills

    5) cooperation with materials (glue bottles, glitter vials)

    6) peer relationships

    7) art appreciation, creativity

  5. Outcomes?  The glitter and small stars would give their artwork a realistic look.  It would be a messy adventure, but certainly fun to make and to show off to their friends and parents when they finish.

If the children are very young it may not be advisable to have them use glitter and small pieces for their artwork.  Little kids could use imaginations and crayons, colored paper and glue.  You could make cardboard cutouts of stars and other shapes for them to trace around and use for their creations.

Older kids would certainly enjoy the glitter and stickers.  Check labels on the supplies for appropriate age of children to use the products.

The kids would learn spacial features such as 3D.
