I'm having my daughter's 2nd birthday at our house next month. It's going to be a backyard BBQ and there are going to be about 10 kids ranging in age from 2 to 8, so I need some fun outdoor games/activities that everyone can participate in. We are going to have a slip-n-slide, kiddie splash pad, and pinata so far. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  1. at that age it is kinda hard to organize too much because it's a wide age range.  some activities may be too "little kiddish" for the older kids or too old for the little ones.

Pin the tail on the donkey

make cookies for them to decorate their own.  you can have different shapes, colored frosting's, sprinkles, etc.  Best of Luck.

  2. a water balloon contest kids love them or pin the tail on the donkey maybe a three legged race

  3. Scavenger hunt!

And prepare for your lawn to be ruined, because a few kids sloshing around on a slip and slide can do a lot of damage!  Prepare for mud everywhere and grassy footprints!

  4. I am on my last year at college getting my degree on  Child Development - usually you just invite one child to your kids b-day one his/her first year and keep adding another child every year.  Ex.: 1st year only invite one child ; 2nd b-day only invite 2 children and so on and so forth.  And keep the party time short (between 1 - 2 hrs only), children seem to lose interest after a while and get really cranky.  Since you invited 10 children already just make sure to keep the party short and activities shorter, they will get bored easily if the activity runs too long.  Slip-n-slide?  Sounds like you are inviting older children - make sure to keep and eye on them all the time becuase they can still drown (by swallowing too much water), pin the tail on the donkey is another fun activity and make sure you have a pinata - you can never go wrong with this.

Remember - keep it short and sweet

  5. can you rent a bounce house?  They are always a hit and not that expensive to rent.

  6. Having some crafts projects is a great way to keep kids of different ages entertained  .... you get some great deals on ebay or even stores like Micheals or walmart

Also this is one of the games i had for my son's party ...

wrap a small gift price in many wrappings as possible and make it big ...if have 10 kids so say wrap it around 25 wrappings ...this is how you can play...all kids sit a cricle....one kid(may be the birthday girl) gets to open it first and pass it to next kid...each kid should open only one wrapping and pass it around ...the kid who gets to open the last wrapping wins....

I had wrapped the very first 2 and very last to 2 in gift wrapping paper and rest of the layers were just regular newspaper....no one cares.....the kids really had playing this one i remember....also i had some small box of chocolate and the kid you won enjoyed sharing it with the others !!
