  1. Usually actors and actresses start off by getting an agent, an agent helps them find auditions. So you need to get an agent.

  2. start off with doing communtiy theater and work your way up. eventually get an agent and move to nyc or L.A to be closer to auditions and things

  3. I've been acting since I was 13. I stared off in community theatre where my first role involved more set moving than actual acting, but worked my way up to lead roles, starring in 4 out of the last 5 plays I did with them. I did the same thing in high school; in my first play I was the only person to have zero lines and when I graduated I was playing main roles & had acting and technical awards. In college the story was basically the same: silent, to lead, to getting cast without callbacks. Since then I have been acting, directing, teaching, doing tech work & creating new work, to establish myself in a new city where I'm once again starting at the bottom.

You've just got to work your way up in this world. Always keep trying new things, pushing yourself to be better, work harder. You have to know what you want out of acting & know what it'll take to get it. My goals were never to become a rich superstar film actress, so maybe that's why I've found the success I have- because I'm in it for the acting rather than the fame or fortune.

I hope you're in it for the right reasons too. Break a leg!

  4. You should go to www.actinginfo.blogspot.com!

  5. First, start out auditioning for plays at the community theatre, church and school. Keep auditioning for EVERYTHING you can. In order to be good in these auditions you're going to have to work very hard with training: dance classes (tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop etc. ), voice lessons, acting coach, choir, acting classes and the like. Then, when you have a thorough extensive resume` that includes training and plays you've been in then you take this to a reputable agent who will help to find you acting jobs. Then, you can move to a big city such as LA or NYC where your career will surely flourish.

  6. I basically woke up one day and decided to be an actress...lol.  and i fell for complete scams such as imta and John robert powers.... and I lost thousands of dollars.... or shall i say my parents did.  then i started signing with some agencies... but i was not satisfied with most of them since they didn't call me enough.  eventually... i found an agency that called me on a daily basis for an audition and they have been very good to me.  Here is my advice to you.  NEVER pay an agency any money upfront.  NEVER fall for anything that is advertised on the radio.  A good agency is not advertised because they have enough interests already and they can't handle any more.  The first thing you need to do is practice and memorise a monologue.  Make sure it is perfect because this is what you will perform in your future auditions.  I recommend seeing an acting coach to make sure you have it nailed down.  Then get your headshots done.  Find a good photographer and he'll guide you through the whole thing.  Then mail them out to a bunch of agencies in your area.  If they like your look as an actor and they call you... perform your *** off... and try your best.  Remember that it takes about 3 weeks before an agency contacts you... agents are very busy people and they get a billion headshots a day. Wait to see what agencies call you... do not just take the first offer.  Make sure you take the best offer.  If you do not get any calls... it is most likely cuz they already have a lot of people with your look and they don't need another one.   Try again a few months later... and never give up.  Fight for your dreams. GOOD LUCK!!!
