Actors! I just don't get it!

Question

What makes an actor a good award winning actor.

What I don't get is any one can be a actor and pretend to be some one, but what is it that makes the famous ones we have today good actors.

Specific qualities to be a good actor will be greatly thanked.

Everyone can't act, actors need to know how to get into character and stay in character thats one of the hardest parts..

when you can come out of your body and become someone else, completely-emotionally, physically, mentally. You can stir up emotions in an audience that makes them believe you are this person and not who you truly are.  Basically, you can become the character, you live the character, and you don't even realize that you are you anymore.

I say method acting, you just can't pretend. it takes hardwork to be an actor. When they actually are the characters.

Hey I'm an  British Actress, and I have to disagree with you on that one, not anyone can be an actor. Anyone can read lines sure, but its the way you deliver, do you have the ability to make that character realistic, can you draw inspiration, and delve into parts of your mind you never thought you could, with acting its all about pushing the boundaries, and being able  to express yourself, you have to make that character believable, it is in art in itself. I believe you don't need a drama degree to ben actor, its merely an natural talent or one that can be developed. Another thing with actors is, its part acting part looks, your body is your tool, you have to look good its part of the job. hope that helps x
