Question:

Actual Physical Control border crossing?

My friend wants to go up to Canada for a vacation, but we don't know if she will have problems crossing the border. She was charged with an Actual Physical Control 2 years ago. I know that you will have problems if you have a DUI, but will you have problems with an APC?

Thanks!!

  1. Good question!  To my knowledge, it will have the same effect as the DUI.  Your best bet is to have her contact a border agent, with the same question, not giving her name.  If she is near an international airport, she can call the people that do the pre-clearance for flights to Canada, and they will talk to her as long as they are not busy with a flight when she calls.  If she is close enough to the border, she can call the border office without actually going there.  If she is in or near a city with a Canadian consulate or embassy, she can call there for guidance.
