Has anyone tried acupuncture for Arthritis pain or for thinning hair? Did you take Chinese herbs in conjunction with the acupuncture and if so what is your opinion of the results?

  1. I have recently had two sessions of Acupuncture following an RTA at the end of April. The first for hip and back pain was very effective and I am completely free of pain, the second yesterday for lower back pain has left me feeling a little sore. To be honest I was sceptical about it's effectiveness and am pleasantly surprised just how effective it's been at relieving my pain. You could try it once and see what you think. I have no personal experience of the herbs, but I know my Mother tried them and they made her quite ill. If I remember correctly she had some kind of reaction to them. Don't however let that put you off, my mother may have been the exception rather than the rule.  :0)

  2. Sticking pins in me seems a little too much for me.  I use an Australian oil called Elmore Oil for arthritis and muscular pain.  It is fantastic and painless.  Its also 100% natural.

  3. Depending on how advanced the arthritis is - acupuncture can be VERY effective (in conjunction with the proper herbal formula) for arthritis pain.  If there is no calcification of the joints yet, you can probably reverse it as well.  Be sure your acupuncturist can prescribe herbs and make dietary recommendations as well.  A good place to start is www.acufinder.com.

With regards to the thinning hair: depends on the cause/diagnosis.  Sounds like you may have a lot of heat or fire in your system.  Adding the proper herbs and changing your diet can be exceptionally helpful. Good luck!

  4. I dont know about hair loss but it helped my migraine a bit, i couldnt carry on with the treatment because it was rather expensive at £40 per hour.

  5. It's B.S., like hypnotism and horoscopes. See a doctor for chronic  pain.

Not some nut job trying to make money on the naive.

  6. I have had acupuncture for Osteo Arthritis, and i have to say I have been really impressed as pain releif....though, I have to say, after six sessions, the relief only really lasts for a matter of weeks. I have never really considered Chinese herbs though.

  7. It didn't help my Athritis but when I stuck loads of pins in my head it looked like I had siver hair. Good result but painful.

  8. I have  used acupuncture for pain. I was really scared but desperate. I was amazed at how effective it was. I would do it again. I don't see it helping thinning hair.
