  1. It all depends on what you mean by "boosting metabolism."  As SkepDoc points out, it is a largely meaningless phrase, primarily because it is too broad.  I'm going to assume you mean "increase caloric burn rate."

The first thing I wonder is why you would want to do that?  Presumably you are trying to lose weight?  In which case the real question is "Can acupuncture help me lose weight?"  And the answer, SkepDoc's uninformed insistence to the contrary aside, is yes--depending.

Acupuncture cannot, by itself, CAUSE weight loss, but it can (depending on the reasons for your weight gain) improve the results of your effort to lose weight.  This might be done by various means, from working directly on the digestion, to curbing appetite, or other things.

Anyway, find an acupuncturist with expertise (or at least experience) in this area, as not all of us study such things.

    Good Luck!

  2. It is not a miracle cure but it can support what you are doing already. Reducing meat and dairy can help. You may experiment with eliminating foods that contain gluten. Wamy people have a reaction to gluten and do not know it.  Eliminating it for a few weeks will show you if this is a contributor.

Good luck, I know how difficult weight loss can be. Also remember that healthy sustainable weight loss takes time. Some people can lose weight quickly, I can not. I am on a journey of losing about a pound a month. This is agonizingly slow but I am making the changes permanent life style changes so I can live with that. It may take a year and a half to lose the weight i want to lose at this point but, that is better than having it slowly creep on.

    Good luck.

  3. and what exactly does "boosting metabolism" mean?  I'm serious.  That is a meaningless phrase.

Acupuncture is a mostly useless, and mostly harmless placebo

Since you asked, I won't give you advice on nutrition and exercise.
