Hi folks. I was listening to NPR earlier today and caught an advertisement by a website "_________plan.com/org." I can't remember exactly, only that it was started by a big oil guy who is now pushing sustainable energy (I think he mentioned wind energy). I was wanting to check out the website, but couldn't remember the guys last name which is the first part of the site name.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

  1. T. Boone Pickens

And despite what ignorant people say, he's an 80 year old multi-billionaire with more money that he could ever hope to enjoy.  Making MORE money is definitely NOT his motivation. He's already given away more than $700 million to charities. Some people actually do things on occasion just because they think it's the right thing to do.  Are the doubters so greedy themselves that then can't imagine a person ever doing anything other than being greedy?

  2. T. Boone Pickens is going to put his money where his mouth is and put up the biggest wind farm in the world in TEXAS.  And I hope he marks it up 1000% when he sells the power to those azzwipes in California.  He has made it clear he is doing it to make a profit and has made his previous riches in the DOMESTIC oil production business.

  3. Tbone Pickens. (aka).

Really? Then it seems like he would devote all profits to charity, and even then making more money would be part of his motivation. It would be naive to say that this venture is not about making more money. I would suggest talking to the farmers in the region whose land he is buying up for the project.

Ask how many read the lower-fine print and noticed that the leasing contracts obliges Boone to the "mineral-rights" below the turbines as well....

Ask some farmers throughout Southwest Kansas, Ok Panhandle, and the Texas panhandle about Boone's 140,000 acre plot and his plan (still held up in courts) - to begin pumping the water out of that region's ONLY water source--the Ogallala aquifer--and shipping it to the Dallas area for a nice profit.

Pickens knows that oil is on the way out, with wind, solar, geothermal, etc on the way in, and he wants a piece of the action. He also notes that water will be "the new oil"--he owns more water than any other in the country, and the buying up of land for his wind power project is helping him acquire even more.

  5. Tbone. I think maybe he now runs a renewable energy company.
