Adam Blair returns to Kiwis to play in Gillette Four Nations - Rugby League
New Zealand confirmed the comeback of their player, Adam Blair, on Tuesday, November 1, after he finished serving a five-match-ban, to take part in a double-header encounter of Gillette Four Nations against Wales. The reason for his suspension was that he
was part of on-field fight in a National Rugby League (NRL) games.
The suspended player had to sit out Friday’s clash, which ended in an embarrassing 26-12 defeat against the much stronger, Australia. However, he was not the only one who had missed out on meeting the formidable Kangaroos. Russell Packer was also suspended
for a single match, for his high tackle on Australian skipper Darren Lockyer. In that match, Packer was making his Test debut which ended badly for his side with a massive 4-42 defeat against Australia.
While talking about his comeback for November 5’s clash, Blair stated that he wants to make the most out of this opportunity as his side will take on Wales at Wembley. Meanwhile, the same day, second match will feature England and Australia.
Blair expressed his feelings about his comeback and said, “Obviously it's been tough. But it's all done now and I can look forward to the weeks that are coming. There was a chance that I could have missed out on the tour. Obviously the coaches have showed
me a bit of faith and hopefully I'll repay them straight up this week. I've been doing all the hard work and I'm hoping for a chance.”
The recent suspension proved very beneficial for the player, as he has worked even harder to make his way back into the remaining Four Nations Campaign. All he had been waiting for is the opportunity to play for New Zealand again to prove himself.
New Zealand had also felt their performance drop without Blair and Lockyer on board, which was apparent in their recent defeat against Australia. This also explains why the Kiwis coach, Stephen Kearney, is happy with the return of the players. Without his
key players, Black caps were clearly failing to reach the required level of game.
