Adam Booth hypes David Haye vs. Audley Harrison bout despite boxing world turning nose up
Adam Booth, Hayemaker Promotions’ high profile operations manager, has indicated that the upcoming November 13 clash between champion David Haye and challenger Audley Harrison, titled 'Best of Enemies',will be the biggest boxing event England has seen in
years.
Booth said that the sold out show has enjoyed incredible demand, not just in close quarters, but also through
Sky Sports, who will be broadcasting it on Sky Box.
Sky Box has confirmed it will offer the fight in 3D, for the first time ever.
"There was so much pressure and demand for this to be made that we paid attention to it and it's been born out. We've sold 18,000-19,000 tickets and with five weeks to go, the arena's totally sold out. If that's directly proportionate to public interest
with the TV audience—which I believe it is because of Audley's name and reputation as well as David's—we have got an event, a real event on our hands.”
Booth’s enthusiastic praise of the event comes at a time when many devout North American boxing fans have passed up on the opportunity to concern themselves with Haye-Harrison.
The popular boxing blog The Queensbury Rules recommended tuning into the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito on the same night instead, adding that fans shouldn’t forget about Haye-Harrison fight. They added satirically, "...just kidding!"
Haye was criticized for fighting Harrison in many camps, a fight in which all indications point out he will easily outclass his opponent. Harrison, though a former Olympic gold medalist, has failed to live up to expectations in the eyes of many and has
been defeated four times in 31 contests.
"I am surprised at how much this has caught on. It's an event that transcends boxing. And that's great for boxing, because our sport is a great sport, but it gets marginalised and it's fights like this that keep us in the public eye."
