Adam Booth reveals David Haye versus Vitali Klitschko is not happening – Boxing news
Adam Booth, who is the manager of former World Boxing Association World Heavyweight Champion David Haye, has insisted that the rumour about Haye’s comeback to fight Vitali Klitschko in 2012 at the ESPIRIT Arena in Düsseldorf is premature.
Booth however hinted as if he may know a bit more than what he disclosed.
“Yes I've had phone calls and communications but as far as I'm concerned at the moment, the fight isn't happening and David is retired,” a smiling Booth told Sky Sports News. “That's all I can say at the moment.”
There were also talks that the Brit has already started training to get back in shape. Booth also commented on it. The manager admitted Haye came to the gym to spar a few rounds with George Groves.
“He came down the gym yesterday to watch George [Groves] spar, and all of a sudden he produced a gumshield out of his bag and did a couple of rounds with George,” Booth explained. “After wheezing his way through two rounds I think he realised just how far
back he has to come for a title.”
The Hayemaker, Haye, fought Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ Klitschko on July 2, 2011 in their mega unification bout for the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF, IBO and The Ring heavyweight titles.
It was a much-anticipated fight and Haye claimed he would beat Wladimir in a convincing way but on the fight night, he failed to deliver and lost his battle via unanimous points’ decision.
Haye, who held a record of winning 25 of his 27 professional fights, with 23 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, after a humiliating loss then walked away from the sport on his 31st birthday but he always stressed that he would comeback
if he gets a chance with any of the Klitschko brothers, as he is desperate to avenge his defeat.
Therefore, let’s see how Dr. Ironfist, Vitali Klitschko, who currently holds the World Boxing Council world heavyweight championship belt, responds to all this because if he really sets up a fight with Haye, it will be a sell out.
