Adam Booth says David Haye prefers Wladimir Klitschko
David Haye and the Klitschkos are at it again.
In a latest chapter to the feud, Haye’s trainer and manager Adam Booth revealed his fighter prefers to fight Wladimir over brother Vitali because of long-standing personal animosity.
Booth told Sky Sports News Ringside: “Let Wladimir go bash up Dereck Chisora on December 11th, and maybe Bernd [Bonte] [Wladimir’s manager] and I can have a chat on December 12th.”
He continued: “I think David wants Wladimir because he called him a b**ch something, so I think David fancies that one a little bit.”
WBA champion Haye is coming off a third round knock-out win over Audley Harrison, which many consider both comical and sad. Harrison, a former Olympic gold medallist, managed to throw all of one jab in the fight before hitting the canvas.
Due to the atrocious effort, the British Boxing Board of Control is currently examining whether to withhold a portion of Harrison’s purse.
In response to Booth’s comments, Klitschko manager Bonte said that a fight wouldn’t necessarily have to be with Wladimir, as he is tied up in an upcoming contest with Derek Chisora.
“Vitali is ready to go, with Vitali we can make a fight right away,” Bonte confirmed.
Vitali is coming off a twelve-round unanimous decision win over Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs, which many think should have been stopped. Though Briggs refused to quit, he suffered severe facial injuries, and earned both praise and criticism for his decision
to continue.
Negotiations between team Haye and the Klitschkos have fizzled out after two attempts to date. A first bout agreed upon with Wladimir was cancelled due to Haye citing a back injury. A second attempt at signing a fight with Vitali was ruled out when Haye
accused the brothers of “slave contracts” that gave them unfair financial and fighting advantages.
