Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz win Men’s Doubles crown at the 2011 Yonex Czech International
Poland’s Adam Cwalina and Michal Logosz showed their class as they tamed Russia’s Vitalij Durkin and Alexandr Nikolaenko in the final and won the crown at the 2011 Yonex Czech International, on Sunday, October 2, in Czech Republic.
World Number 24 ranked duo, Cwalina and Logosz had a flawless week as they played tremendous badminton in the whole tournament. In the title match, it was the same story for the Polish pair as they took just 30 minutes to claim the title in front of the
packed indoor arena.
In the opening game of the match, the Polish shuttlers wasted no time in dominating the game. They controlled and dictated the pace of the game as their opponents failed to produce effective defensive strokes. Until the break, Cwalina and Logosz were in
a good position by reaching at 11-6.
After the break, the Russians tried to produce an attacking game but their rivals were quicker in getting high clears followed by jumping smashes. Cwalina and Logosz got the advantage by winning the opening set with a 21-13 margin in just 13 minutes.
In the following set, the Russians worked well in the opening points and remained equal until the end of the first-half, when they were at 9-11. However, after the break, Cwalina and Logosz injected more power in their strokes and dominated the game without
facing any considerable resistance from the Russians.
Cwalina and Logosz ended the second game in 17 minutes with the result of 21-16. The final score of this two- set title-match was 21-13 and 21-16.
After winning the match, Logosz said, “It has been a tough few weeks for us and right now we are both mentally tired. We fought hard today for this win and it is so important for us in the chase for Olympic qualification. We will now take a rest at home
before coming back for the Dutch Open in 2 weeks.”
The main target of the Polish pair is to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games, and victory at the Czech International is a boost for their confidence to earn a place in the mega event.
