Adam Duffy, George Marter enter second round ousting Lyndon Gordon and James Welsh: Q School Snooker
Adam Duffy and George Marter have qualified for the second round of the World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) 2011, after beating Lyndon Gordon 4-0 and James Welsh 4-3, respectively, in the first round on day two at the World Snooker Academy, in Sheffield.
The afternoon session on day two featured six matches including three walkovers, as Stephen Rowlings, Alex Davies and David Portman surged into the second round claiming those walkovers against Gareth Coates, David Grace and James Wattana.
Adam Duffy 4-0 Lyndon Gordon
Duffy crashed out of the Q School Event one at the hands of Robbie Williams in the very first round. He made an impressive run in the second event, as he stormed into the fourth round of the event, beating Jason Tart, Shahram Changezi and Saqib Nasir. He
then lost to David Morris 0-4 and missed his pro tour chance.
However, the Englishman made a strong start in the last event of the Q School, as he took a white-wash victory over Gordon. The youngster, Duffy, grabbed the match in straight frames with relative ease by the overall score line of 71-34, 56-15, 70-23 and
54-8.
Duffy’s next opponent will be Stephen Rowlings in round two, at the World Snooker Academy.
George Marter 4-3 James Welsh
Marter did not play up to the mark, as he was thrown out of the previous two events at the hands of Robin Hull and Jak Jones, respectively. He got another attempt in the third event which he took advantage of and managed to defeat Welsh 4-3, after a tough
match.
Marter tumbled down by 0-3, when the Welsh stumbled upon the table and swept the first three frames by the score line of 71-15, 72-37 and 64-49. Before the Welsh could do more damage and kill Marter’s pro tour hopes, the Englishman battled back with a strong
impact and he took the next four frames straight, to nudge down the Welsh 4-3, in the end.
The frame scores of the match-up were 15-71, 37-72, 49-64, 57-50, 77-39, 54-44 and 76-44.
Marter will next meet Chinese, Mei Xi Wen, in the second round of the Q School Event three.
