Adam Dunn helps Chicago White Sox power past Minnesota Twins 7-4 – MLB Recap
The Chicago White Sox power past the Minnesota Twins 7-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, July 23 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.
White Sox experienced hitter Adam Dunn played wonderfully and earned a great victory for his team. He smashed a terrific homer along with two RBIs on his four at-bats which proved one of the winning factors for the White Sox.
"You've heard it a thousand times: hitting's contagious, Hopefully it carries over, but obviously you're not guaranteeing anything," Dunn said.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura said, “All our guys realize we can play defense, Those two in the middle [second baseman Gordon Beckham and Ramirez] did a great job of getting ground balls and getting Gav out of some situations where, if they get through or you don't get those double plays, it's a different kind of game."
Along with Dunn, the other White Sox batters also performed well and scored some significant runs in their team’s win.
Centre-fielder Alejandro De Aza scored two runs on three hits while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .408.
First baseman Paul Konerko also performed well and did fine on his four at-bats as he added two runs, three hits and three RBIs in the White Sox total runs tally.
Alex Rios and Kevin Youkilis also added one run each for the White Sox and helped them to take a healthy advantage early in the game.
Along with batters, the White Sox pitchers especially starter Gavin Floyd played tremendously and earned a great victory for his team.
He pitched six innings and received only three runs and two earned runs while his ERA remained consistent at 4.46.
Twins' starter Francisco Liriano disappointed with his poor performance. He literally lost the game for his team as he was hammered with seven runs on seven hits along with seven earned runs in just 2.2 innings.
The White Sox will be happy with their performance as they managed to get their offence going and take a decent win against the Twins.
