The Chicago White Sox are on the way to restructuring their roster and as work continues on strengthen the hitting line-up and the fielding options, the free agency is gaining momentum, with the winter meetings closing in. Slated
to start on the 6th of December, the meetings will grant agents and clubs the chance to interact freely without having to go through administrative hurdles.
The White Sox are looking to gain an edge over their rivals and this means they are scanning the market for available options. Much to the pleasure of the supporters, new news has come in and it has been reported that Adam Dunn
from the Washington Nationals has signed on with the Chicago ball club for 4 years, on a $56 million contract. The only thing keeping this news from being official is a physical examination, which will take place today.
Dunn is famously compared to Jim Thome and he’s usually called the younger version of the living legend. Adam is a 6ft 6” athlete who weighs 285 pounds. He and Paul Konerko (if signed), will represent a refreshed White Sox side
that would be one of the contenders for the American League Central title. Adam Dunn tends to compete in more than 157 games per year and his last season postings were considerably praise worthy. The first baseman smashed 38 home runs last season and topped
the figure up with 103 RBIs (Runs Batted In).
Matt Thornton, who is a relief pitcher for the White Sox and was part of Team USA in the World Baseball Classic, recently, commented on Dunn. He said, "He's one of the true characters of baseball. He's a fun person to be around,
keeping things loose. Adam Dunn really is a great addition to any team."
His former teammate, Ryan Zimmerman, had a few words to share as well. He said, "Adam is one of the most underrated players in the game. The contract is deserved for what he does every year. Obviously, I wish he could be on my
team, but in the end, he has to do what is best for his family. He gets respected and gets what he deserves. It's good for him."
General Manager Ken Williams is looking to boost the side before the regular season starts in April. The objective is to reach the playoffs and if Paul Konerko rejoins the side, the club will fancy its chances for post season glory.
