  1. Maybe a little bit. I am a dodger fan and i do think it was a good pick up. But u guys are trying to compare dunn to mann that is just absurd. Some say that dunn is going to hit 10 more homers than manny. Manny will hit 10 more rbis than him and he doesnt strike out as much. When u talk about presence Manny is a far greater presence in the lineup. So it will be a close race but dodgers are getting healthy and the diamonbacks are not so we win the west.

             Go Dodgers!

  2. Ok first of all Adam Dunn is a big name ball player but take it from someone who has been watching him from day 1 here in cincinnati.  He hits 40 home runs a year but he strikes out every other time.

Anyone remember that movie called Major league where the black guy that worshiped jo-boo could hit straight balls very long then you throw him a slider and he misses.  Thats adam dunn.

He needs to say f.u jo-boo I do it by myself.

  3. Maybe. You know I've been riding on getting Dunn out of town for years nows....the guy's just too lackadasical (as in no intensity in at bats and fielding at LF) and strikes out a ton especially in clutch situations....

but looking back, he's not that bad a hitter (just one that's too expensive for my reds and their payroll). His overall production numbers aren't bad and if he was on a team batting 4th and the 1st 3 guys had real good on-base percents, then this guy would be a very good rbi man. But it was a bad combination with him and griffey here in cincy. Only problem is that he stinks it up at times at the plate and in the outfield sometimes and then acts all entitled and spoiled like Griffey and gets hypersensitive to the local radio announcers, sports writers, and fans blasting him even though its rightly deserved.

  4. a little. But he strikeout more, he has a lower batting average. And plays worst defense than Manny.

  5. Good question. In a way it does because the Diamondbacks got a hitter of equal talent if not a little less talent. In another way though the Dodgers made this huge splash with one of the most controversial players in the game.....Dunn isn't the most talked about player in the MLB. He will help for sure and will probably be as, if not more important than Manny to LA but honestly i dont think this is going to impact peoples views on Manny trade.

    It is a media world!

  6. You are talking softening impact.

    What does that mean?

Adam Dunn, a very nice power hitting pickup, but where is the impact?

Manny Ramirez, nothing but "buzz" and "will he or won't he carry, or at least inspire" the Dodgers to a NL West title?

I call that quite a difference!

    Go Manny.

And what seems to more important, finally, Joe Torre naming his starting outfielders.

    Go Dodgers!

However, the Infielders are still on a day to day basis. Depending on injuries! Or who is available?

Catching? C'mon don't be silly, Russell Martin.

Pitching?, Penny, Billingsly, Lowe, Kuroda, and Kershaw

At last, an all most daily starting projection.

Will it work for Joe Torre?

    Dodger fans certainly "hope" so.

    Closer, is their weakness.

Broxton does not seem to have the "closer" mentality.

However, there is hope, that some unknown could emerge.

Or that, maybe, Broxton can get over his obvious problems of being a "closer"

  7. I would have to say that it does not, Dunn has power but he is not Manny.  I like the deal for the D'Backs to get something but I think to truly soften the impact it would have had to have been two more offensive weapons or a bigger name!

  8. I think it does, at least somewhat. But I also think that Manny is a better hitter overall, Dunn is more of an "all-or-nothing" kind of hitter. Dunn will add a lot of power to the D-Back lineup, but they will also have to be willing to tolerate his stretches when he does nothing.

  9. everyone keeps talking about strikeouts with Adam Dunn, and he does strike out a lot, but he has 32 Home Runs!!!! And his new teammate Mark Reynolds strikes out more than Adam Dunn so, the Diamondbacks will strikeout a lot, probably the most in the majors if not history, but make a mistake to them and they will hit it a long way.
