  1. It wasn't even a very thought out written story.

  2. Yawn.. This has been asked and answered so many times. I'm surprised it keeps popping up. Just look in Genesis 5:4. At first they married sisters. Why?

    1. No choice

    2. No risk of defects

    3. No law against it at the time

Now inbreeding is not a good idea. We have so many health problems that it would be begging for trouble.

    BTW

Anyone attempting to answer a question like this should at least have some knowledge of the topic. Guesses, rumours, and opinions benefit no-one.

  3. This is an age-old question. The answer is logical and lies in the believability of the claim. It is not logical.

When the story was written it is fair to assume that the author was constructing a story and not trying to test logic or believability.

In fact, the two very world class interpreters of the Book of "J" suggested that the book was possibly, originally intended to be a sort of "romance" novel about a particular god. No claim, in the original work, was made for the concept of a single god, this concept was essentially Zoroastrian in nature and the Hebrews were not exposed to this thought process until the release from Babylon, several hundred years later.

To the the credit of the Hebrews, in my view, is that they were capable of allowing their god concept to be advanced by their exposure to the Persians who, as we know, were educated by the Greeks.

So to view the Adam and Eve allegory, if we are to take it literally, with modern education, of course causes problems in logic especially, with the absurd, fundamentalist claim of an inerrant bible.

I believe the only fair assessment of the modern bible is to consider it an amazingly long, in duration, piece of literary work. An attempt to garner facts from it, short of physical locations and a few time frame elements such as the Roman occupation of the Middle East, will produce only confusion and frustration.

  4. Obviously...their sisters or possibly cousins. Jewish tradition holds that Adam and Eve had 23 sons and 13 daughters. In the beginning, incest was not a sin or wrong since they were the only people on earth and their genes were nearly perfect.

  5. Why is this question in "Social Science" section?

  6. WOW ii DONT EVEN KNO DAT ANSWER..

    HMM..

  7. Incest seem like the logical answer.

However the books is full of inaccurate/false information.

Thats why many people have become atheist.

  8. all we know was that cain got his wife in nod

where they came from it doesn't say and nobody knows

abel was dead before he had a chance to marry anyone

  9. adam and ever were not the only "2 ppl" they were the 2 who ate fruit... they were among everyone else and the devil (allready in existence's persuaded them to eat it...

  10. These are just stories,  if you want real clarification ask a priest but....

I'm pretty sure these are two independent stories trying to teach lessons....

these stories are also coming from the same bible that tells us to 'turn the other check' but ALSO 'an eye for an eye'

    It's a paradox

  11. Where in the Bible does it say that they were the only ones? Are you just assuming that?

In fact, I think it says that Cain found a wife in a village some distance away (Nod?).

  12. That's the difference between fables and history. History is a factual account of what happened. A fable is a story made up to illustrate a point. The biblical creation story is not history. It doesn't have to pass any sort of logical scrutiny.
