Adam Gilchrist admits that Azhar Mahmood has been influential for the Kings XI Punjab – Cricket News Update

Since the first edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistani players have not been allowed to take part in the cash-rich league because of political reasons. However, Azhar has now got the British nationality and this is the reason why he was bought
by the Kings XI in this year’s auction.
The all-rounder could not take part in the initial matches of the tournament because he did not get the Indian visa in time. However, ever since he has joined the franchise, Azhar has been outstanding in both the departments of the game and has changed the
fortunes for the Kings XI, who were struggling to get going earlier in the event.
Gilchrist, who has missed the last four matches because of a hamstring injury, expressed that Azhar is an impressive professional, who also believes in helping out the youngsters. The former Australian wicketkeeper admitted that the all-rounder has turned
out to be a magnificent find for his team.
He said, “Azhar (Mahmood) has been impressive with his whole approach and the attitude. He is level-headed and wants to share it with others on the field as well as off it. He certainly has made a nice, little impact for us.”

Gilchrist revealed that the all-rounder wanted to bat in the top-order. Azhar has played little cameos in the tournament so far but his skipper is confident that the hard-hitting batsman will soon convert his starts into big knocks.
“It’s a shame that he couldn’t convert that into a big knock, but these are the sort of small moments of impact. It definitely gave us the impetus, and he has been dying to get into the top-order,” Gilchrist said.
