Adam Gilchrist happy with the KXIP combination without him – Cricket News Update
The injured regular captain of Kings XI Punjab, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918 on Sunday expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in his absence and said that even if he gets fit to take the field, his place is not guaranteed in the
playing XI for the ensuing three games.
The 40-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 wicketkeeper batsman has not played a game for the Kings XI Punjab since April 19, due to a hamstring strain. Countryman David Hussey has been standing in for Gilchrist since then and has led
the side tremendously well, winning five of the seven games KXIP played under him.
Speaking to the media reporters after his side thrashed bottom placed Deccan Chargers by four wickets, chasing down a mammoth 20-over target of 191 on the last ball of the day, Gilchrist said that the team is getting along really
well and he might not make a comeback into the side in the remainder of the league stage, even after completely recovering from the hamstring injury.
"Injury has been progressing well, but not well enough," said the Australian when asked about his hamstring strain.
When asked if he would be available to lead the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 based Kings XI in the ensuing games, the former Australian skipper said, "Even if I am available for playing, it is not sure that I will play as the boys are doing a great
job right now and the team is really getting along very well."
The stand in captain of Kings XI, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380 lavished praised on his team for its fight against Deccan Chargers, as the hosts chased down the intimidating total of 190 for 4 after reeling at
56 for 3 in the eight over. He however, urged the side to carry on its good form in the ensuing three games to keep their hopes of making the tournament playoffs alive. 
"We had a good match on Saturday. We are playing Delhi on Tuesday and it's a big game for us and we need to play equally well to get two points and move ahead. The boys are confident of putting up a good show," said Hussey at the post-match press conference
on Sunday night.
