Australia’s former skipper and legendary wicketkeeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist, has predicted that Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has a chance to beat the youthful and inexperienced Kangaroo squad in the upcoming 4-Test series that is to be hosted by the Oz nation from December
26 to January 28.
Gilchrist claims that the cricket rivalry, which started during the Aussies’ tour to India in 2001, is likely to resurface when the Men in Blue will come to play in Australia later this month, resulting in an interesting and thrilling competition.
According to the ex-skipper, both the teams are equal in batting departments whereas the bowling line-ups will make a difference.
Talking to the media today, Adam said, “It will be quite difficult to predict the result. I think both the teams are evenly matched, particularly when it comes to the batting department. On the bowling front, though, whichever team plays full strength and
remains injury-free will go a long way in winning the series.”
Recalling the 2001 series, which the Kangaroos lost badly, he told, “It was one of the best Test series ever. It set a terrific rivalry between the teams. The build-up to the forthcoming series is exciting.”
Adam has also expressed grave concerns over the ouster of India’s veteran spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453, claiming that the Indian selectors’ decision seems to be somewhat illogical.
“Harbhajan is a wonderful guy to play with. His fighting spirit is really admirable,” stated the former glovesman.
Gilchrist believes that the Aussies are passing through a transitional phase at the moment, and it is quite easy for a rock-solid side like India to dominate them. His views have also been backed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Symonds-c44611.
From 1996 to 2008, Gilly played 96 Test, 287 ODI and 13 T20I matches, scoring 5570, 9619 and 272 runs respectively in the three formats. The legend captained Deccan Chargers and Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He represents New South
Wales and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 in the domestic cricket.
