Adam Green wants to make the most of opportunity with Baltimore Orioles- MLB News
The Baltimore Orioles signed outfielder Adam Greenberg to a Minor League deal. He has not been invited to the spring training that takes place in Sarasota, Florida for 2013. Greenberg’s career has been hampered on a long term basis by an on field incident
that took place in 2005.
The 31-year-old made his first and only appearance in the 2012 season as a pinch hitter for the Miami Marlins against the New York Mets and was struck out on October 2nd.
His Major League career got off to a dreadful start after he was hit by a pitch on the head, on his first at-bat in the Major League in 2005, representing the Chicago Cubs. Cubs were the team that had initially drafted Adam in the ninth round of 2002 Amateur
Draft.
Adam himself is pleased to have another shot at playing in the big leagues. He is grateful to have another short of redeeming his career and was appreciative of the Baltimore Orioles who have given him another chance to show his prowess in the field.
"The opportunity is everything," Greenberg said. "That's all I ever asked for. I'm a baseball player. The media attention was great and it was a nice story, but the attention was to get the opportunity to showcase myself on the field, and I am so grateful
that the Orioles are giving me the opportunity to be a part of their organization."
The left hander started his career in the Minors with the Chicago Cubs’ farm system in 2002 and featured for a number of teams. He was quite a regular performer in the Minor League which allowed him to have a chance in the Majors.
However, after getting hit by the pitch, Adam suffered concussions, still has vision related problems and had vertigo. He has been playing the Minors since the incident and has represented Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City Royals and Miami
Marlins’ organisations.
He said that he is not looking for any freebies or gifts and wants to prove that he still has it in him. Adam has every intention of making the most of the chances he has got.
"I don't want a handout, I don't want a gift. All I want is the opportunity, and I've always proven, if you give me that shot, I will make the most of it," Greenberg said.
Although making it to the Major Leagues may not be a possibility in near future for the outfielder, it cannot be discounted altogether. Adam has a will to make it back to the big leagues and the confidence he has shown can take him a long way in making that
dream come true. One hopes that he can succeed in his struggle and be an inspiration to others.
