Adam Greenberg plays in Major League again since his first appearance in 2005 - MLB Update
Miami Marlins signed a one-day contract with Adam Greenberg and allowed him to play at the Major League once again after being made to stay out due to the blow he received on his head back in 2005.
In his Major League debut, the first pitch that he came across hit him right on the head and that endangered the career of Greenberg. Unfortunately, he could never assume position in the field and make plays.
Since then, he has earned great respect among the fans.
Naturally he drew a great amount of sympathy from all over the country.
For the same reason he has been able to reappear in a Major League game after an online petition drive in his favour.
The Marlins are the club that have responded to the request of the fans and have given Greenberg an opportunity.
By the time Greenberg made his way into the field on Tuesday, he received an enthusiastic welcome from the spectators sitting in the stadium. Such an overwhelming response of the fans has made him feel great.
After the match, he termed the experience of the game as one of the most unforgettable moments of his life. He has never seen the noise resounding from every corner while he steps at the plate and witnessed the fans excited to watch him.
While he fascinated the fans with his presence, he could not impress them with a performance at the plate. He was struck-out as he failed to connect in the game.
Greenberg, before the start of the game, expressed his desire to make the most of the pinch-hitting opportunity that the Marlins will offer him. He was aware of the fact that against Dickey striking properly will not be easy.
"Hopefully there is going to be a lot more of this. This is good stuff," Greenberg said. "I want to show everyone I can play, although you can never really truly do that in one at-bat, especially if it ends up being against Dickey."
Greenberg will be extremely pleased inside his heart that he confronted the pitcher from the plate fearlessly.
The Marlins have done a great service to Greenberg. Certainly he will be grateful to them and to all the fans that lobbied for his entry in the Major League.
