Adam Johnson: I'll quit if I don't play
Manchester City winger Adam Johnson has revealed he will quit the club if he isn't given more first team opportunities.
Johnson joined the Premier League big spenders from Middlesbrough last January. There is no doubt that his game has improved since the move but City boss Roberto Mancini is reluctant to pick Johnson to
start in games.
"Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes. It is still early but I definitely would consider it [quitting City].
It is disappointing when you are not playing from the start in games like that [Manchester derby]," Johnson told Sky Sports.
Johnson admits that it is very frustrating to feel fitter than ever and full of confidence. He says training is going well on a day to day basis but finds it frustrating
he is nothing more than a product of squad rotation at the club.
"With the players we have it will be a rotation but I am full of confidence
and I just want to be playing. I have got to train and get on with it, nothing is going to change," he added.
The most important thing that Johnson must now do is keep his head. It can be easy for players to take one eye off of the main goal when small frustrations like this boil
away and build up.
Johnson is at one of the best clubs in the country and in Europe. He is being kept out of the side by some very high profile players such as David Silva who was part of
the Spanish World Cup winning team.
"I have to keep the right frame of mind and get in the team because
I want to play for the national team as well. I like attacking, scoring goals and creating goals and pleasing the fans," he said.
