http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537 confident that Manchester City can beat anyone in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup
Manchester City attacker and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international Adam Johnson seems to be on top of his game at the moment, as the player has gone on to admit that City do not fear their upcoming opponents in the Carling Cup.
Last night City went on to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by five goals to two and during the game, Johnson was in remarkable form, as he scored a brilliant goal and helped set up a few more.
However, with Manchester United also having won their game on Tuesday night, there is a strong possibility that the two teams from Manchester will now face off in the quarter final stage of the tournament, as they look to make their way towards their first trophy of the season.
City have already gone ahead and destroyed Manchester United this season, as they team went on to crush their local rivals by a score line of six goals to one at Old Trafford this past Sunday. As a result, the team seems to be more than capable of running the show and beating the Red Devils once again, should the two teams be drawn together.
When talking about City’s upcoming opponents, Johnson is quoted to have said: “I think we’ll play against anyone with our confidence at the moment. Whoever we get, home or away, we’re confident we can go through.”
Johnson then went on to admit that the early goal scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 got the home side pumped up and behind their players and this caused a lot of problems to the team. However, he then went on to reveal that the twenty minutes City spent getting their act together proved to be the key moment in the game, as once the squad clicked, they became unstoppable.
“The early goal lifted everyone, lifted the crowd”, he said. “We were a bit shaky for the first 20 minutes, but once we got the ball down and got our passing game going we were able to create as many chances as we did.”
City striker Edin Dzeko also went on to make it clear that City had hit a fine vein of form, as the team was picking up wins with massive score lines. However, he then admitted the team needed to maintain their form, or it could all go downhill from here.
“After we won 6-1 and today 5-2 it’s very good for us, but we have to keep going to play like this,” Dzeko said.
At the moment, City are being hailed as the most lethal team in England and the way they have been playing lately, it would be close to impossible to argue with those comments.
