Adam Kirby hoping for success with Lethal Force – Horseracing News
Jockey Adam Kirby is hopeful that Lethal Force will be able to make a strong impression in the July Cup.
The seasoned rider will be partnering the talented stallion in the Group 1 encounter and was hopeful of a strong show. He claimed, “I have to stick with him, he's a lovely horse, he's uncomplicated and one I always look forward
to. I'm not saying he definitely will, but there's no reason why he can't win. I think he held a bit back at Ascot so I think there's still more to come.”
Lethal Force has got a pretty decent record in the sport, but he does not have an ideal strike rate, which is a bit concerning for his camp. However, he has got quite a lot of experience in the sport, which means that he knows
how to handle pressure.
The four-year-old colt debuted in May 2011 and was unable to bring up his maiden victory during that year. He took part in some important races next season and improved his confidence, which helped him secure a couple of victories.
However, he has been managed well in 2013, as his camp has not rushed him into different events. Therefore, he has managed to stay fit and has done a pretty decent job until now. He has appeared in just a couple of events this
year, winning one of them whereas finished as a runner up in the other. Both times, he was up against Society Rock, who is also a fabulous performer.
Kirby believes that Reckless Abandon and Society Rock will be the main threat to his challenger in the July Cup. He added, “They're both very well and it'll be a good day. They're proper Group 1 horses, Reckless [Abandon] is still
only three and taking on the older horses which is hard for him, he ran a massive race at Ascot.”
All in all, the race at Newmarket will be a good one, as there are some terrific stallions lined up for action in it. There is also a chance that Shea Shea will make an appearance in the competition, which will spice things up
even more.
