Adam LaRoche asserts his importance to Washington Nationals with great performance - MLB Update
When others will sustain injuries and miss out games, Adam LaRoche will keep the opponents at bay and will not let them exploit Washington Nationals’ weak-areas. During middle part of the innings, he has proven as a sole saviour for his side in the first
month of the season.
Only area that can cause the Nationals to lose momentum down in the season and suffer long losing streaks are the frailties in their offence.
With an entry of Bryce Harper one can argue that it is not the case. However, looking at the last two games against the Pittsburgh Pirates and drought of hits coming off in middle part of the game, their offence needs some attention.
This calls for having veterans in the line-up, who can not only help the side through the season, but can also nurture young talent.
Therefore, tremendous performance by LaRoche in the season has given way to a question that whether the Nationals will retain him for 2013 or will let him lurk in free agency.
If the same question was asked last season, the Nationals will definitely have thought of overlooking him. Back then, he was having a rough time on the plate.
To expect the Nationals to ignore LaRoche following this season will be illogical. He has asserted his mettle time-and-again this year.
He has been hitting homers consistently and adding RBIs, above all, his plays from first base have been the most impressive.
As soon as signs of injury loomed over LaRoche and made him afraid of staying out of the season for a long time-period, positive MRI report came and comforted him.
“We got that answer,” LaRoche said. “I think it’s not on the verge of tearing. They said everything structurally looks great. It shouldn’t be a one wrong swing and this thing goes and I’m out for a while, otherwise we wouldn’t be trying it right now. That
was great news, to get that off the MRI.”
Looking at the way LaRoche is going currently in the season, one can predict that he has a perfect season ahead.
If the Nationals really attain something enviable this year, LaRoche will make chunk of the contribution.
