Adam LaRoche’s parents grateful to Washington Nationals’ fans - MLB Update
Parents of Washington Nationals’ first baseman Adam LaRoche are extremely thankful of the fans in the capital. They have acknowledged their immense support during the season through a letter.
LaRoche inked a two year deal with the Nationals in 2011. Currently, he has just finished playing the second year of his agreement and is under an option for the club for 2013 season.
He has been the most consistent batter for the Nationals in the season. By the time players like Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman and Michael Morse were injured; he stepped up and did the bulk of the production for the team.
In particular, his role regarding the striking of home-runs was extremely important.
On number of occasions, he delivered stand out shows at the plate and ensured wins for the team.
In light of his tremendous performance in the season, it can be believed that the Nationals will retain him for the upcoming season.
LaRoche can become free agent if the Nationals do not offer him contract extension. While the negotiations are underway in this regard, it remains to be seen as to what type of contract renewal he is going to earn.
Adam will be banking on incredible numbers that he posted in the season to feel hopeful of fetching an expensive deal from the Nationals. He will be aware of the fact that he has been an offensive force for the team in the season.
Talking about the impact of the victories of the Nationals on their fan-base, LaRoche has stated that stadiums are being thronged by the spectators more often now.
He is pleased with the fact that during the season fans left their day-to-day tasks and turned to the park to watch the Nationals.
“You could tell early on that is was almost more of a social gathering,” LaRoche said. “Nothing else to do, we’ll go hang out at the park. Now it’s turned into some diehard fans, people probably skipping work and skipping school to come see the Nats. Our
last few regular season home games, I think were about as close to playoff atmosphere as you can get.”
Within a few weeks, it can be expected that reports related to his contract extension surface. It will be interesting to see which team he plays for in the upcoming season.
