Adam Lind sterilizes Texas Rangers as Toronto Blue Jays pick up win No. 2
A strong and powerful Adam Lind made things right for the Toronto Blue Jays, as the team far from home took down the 2010 American League Champions in Arlington.
The Canadian outfit went into their second game of their series against the Texas Rangers with an important win from the first encounter at the Rangers Ballpark.
It did not take long for the visiting ball club to cement itself in the game as Matt Harrison failed to impede the Blue Birds’ journey to glory. Lind played a match winning role in the contest but his role paid dividends after the damage had been done.
Nevertheless, with help from the opposing pitchers, the power hitter picked up three runs, of which two were homers. In addition to that, he pledged five RBIs to the club.
His hitting stint guided the side to a 10–3 victory over the Rangers, laying the path open for a possible series clean sweep. The player had been weak against the Tampa Bay Rays but the game showed what the first baseman had been reckoning to do in the league
since the start of the campaign.
"I just had a good game tonight", Lind said. "I didn't feel real great coming in [Monday]. I was hitting .230, we just got it put to us by [James] Shields and David Price and all of the pitchers before that the last two weeks. It feels like we've been facing
some tough pitching".
Lind was able to talk of the situation that has presented him with the leadoff role in the club. His focus was on pressure and his past performances.
"I've always felt pressure my entire career", Lind said. "When I first came up, believe or not, I was hitting leadoff. I was hitting in front of Frank Thomas and Vernon Wells and Troy Glaus. I didn't really do too well. And then in '09, I hit behind Vernon".
The hitter affirmed that he just wanted to give his teammate some protection. Apparently, the situation is the same now. He cited that pitchers have shown a tendency to walk Jose Bautista more often and that has him hitting out to make a point that they
must rethink their strategy.
