The Moroccan-born Dutch midfielder has expressed his desire to move away from AFAS Stadion this summer, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
AZ Alkmaar young midfielder, Adam Maher, has expressed his desire to pursue his career away from AFAS Stadion in the 2012/13 campaign. The 18-year-old has an ongoing contract at the Alkmaar outfit that runs until the summer of
2015, but it seems unlikely that the 18-year-old will plying his trade at AFAS Stadion in the new season.
The promising young midfielder, who came through the ranks of the AZ youth academy, has been staging impressive showings since making his debut at AFAS Stadion on December 15, 2010.
His phenomenal performances at the centre of the pitch attracted interest from several European clubs including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and AC Milan, though, it seems highly unlikely that any of the two aforementioned giants would
be tabling a bid to acquire his signature this summer.
However, reports confirm that PSV Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam have expressed keen interest in luring the Dutch-Moroccan starlet away from AFAS Stadion before the new season kicks-off.
Maher, who has thus far represented AZ in 35 Eredivisie matches, netting five goals while setting up plenty more, has made it clear that he does not want to done the jersey of the Alkmaar outfit in the 2012/13 season, and is of
the view that he is ready to take the next step in his career.
“I have informed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 that I am ready to take the next step. I want to leave this summer, and I want to move away at the earliest. I think, I have played my last official match for AZ”, the midfield ace was quoted as saying to the
Dutch media.
On the other hands, the AZ management have made their intentions clear that they will not let go of their prized asset for anything less than 15 million Euros in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Gertjan Verbeek, the AZ head coach, has expressed optimism regarding Maher’s future, and has confessed that it seems unlikely that any move will materialise this summer.
“Ajax and PSV wants to sign Adam, but they cannot pay the transfer fee. And we have yet to hear from any interested foreign club”, Verbeek said while talking to journalists.
Reports suggest that AZ will certainly cash in on the starlet if a good offer comes in before the summer transfer window slams shut.
